it's way less stressful to be driven around so it's all good and i'll just take you on a webswing sometime so we're on the same playing field with uh thrill rides
Hey, you put an offer like that out in your bio and it's gonna get some attention.
I'll be there in a few. Burger run sound good?
( because what better way is there to appreciate a dwindling sun and the start of cicadas chirping than with a greasy burger and exploring the sights? )
maybe if we ever go swingin' you'll catch a glimpse of the spandex for now i'm just wearing jeans sorry
i could definitely go for a burger i'll meetcha outside
[ which is totally where she is by the time he gets there! looking only mildly like a bum. a trendy bum. she's one of those infuriating people that can forget to brush her hair and pick a hoodie up off the floor to wear and she'll still look pretty cool. her clothes are baggy and comfy. maybe she should Try Harder when meeting up with someone for the first time, but she's kind of over that life. she just wants to grab a burger with the hot guy from OKC. no pressure there. she's on the lookout for a Cool Car, but she kinda forgot to ask what color it was or whatever. it's fine. she's sure she'll know when he pulls up. ]
Hey, I don't deny the power of jeans on a woman. Unfortunately I've only got jeans on myself ;)
( he's yet to find himself a decent burger joint around here, which honestly should've been the first on his to do list along with discovering the fresh pies that'd nearly wafted him inside a quaint bakery when he'd arrived. while he's normally the type to go at it alone, especially a night drive—which has already become pretty much ritual, at this point—he figures a little company wouldn't hurt.
certainly not in the form of one petite, web-slinging blonde.
and she will know, when he pulls up that is, chevy sleek and gleaming off the moonlight— more than anything it's the unmistakable purr of her engine, that and the fact that he's just about the only one swinging through the north end apartments, pulling up alongside her figure with a boyish grin. he ducks down, glancing at her from inside the dim cab. )
[ yes, she's "whoa"ing at the nice car. before he pulls to a stop, of course, for the sake of being Cool About It. but once he's leaning down to talk to her, she is too, forearms resting on the door so she can peek and actually get a good look at the dude, make sure he matches his picture. and hey! he does. wild. which is good, because nobody likes stranger danger. ]
I think I am, actually. You weren't joking about this car. I mean, I know zero about cars, but this one's pretty. Did you get to bring it from home, or did you just happen to find the coolest ride in the city and buy it as soon as you got here?
[ wellll so much for being cool about it. she doesn't wait for his answer before pulling the door open and getting inside, slouching low in the seat because what is good posture? it's a little dark in the car, but that's fine. it means maybe it won't be so obvious that she's absolutely just checking him out for the first long moment after she closes the door behind her. maybe? eh. who cares. it's fine either way. ]
( he takes just as much pride to anyone's appreciation of baby as he would a comment awed in his own direction; really she's pretty much an extension of him, that chevy, tapping the outside of his door appreciatively as she scopes it out. it's pretty obvious he'd agree with her, given how much he'd talked baby up and how she's front and center in the bio of an app that's suppose to put focus on other woman; but yanno, that '67 classic will always come first.
though, the entire time she's marveling in the car, he's just as so at her: the dusty freckles spotting along her cheeks, similar to his own, the gleam of her hues and the utter radiance that seems to bask from her features alone. it's not something he's used to, something that he sees too often, so yeah, sue him if there's a little stir of interest down below at the fact that he's about to have this beautiful woman in his car. )
Brought her from back home, pretty much the only thing I needed other than a duffel packed in the trunk. ( alright, so he'd had to leave behind the near arsenal he kept back there, too, but was able to at least keep some of the good stuff. and then she's slipping inside, and he doesn't wait too long to shift gears and head out of that lot, pursing his lips in thought of where they might be able to check out that'd still be open. )
Alright, I'm gonna admit I know squat about this place other than where to get a mean pie. You got any ideas?
[ Gwen rolls her eyes, but it's playful- of course the guy behind the wheel doesn't know where they're going. but it's fine. ] Alright, I'll play navigator. But just so you know I'm used to the view from up there [ she points up ] on rooftop, so we might take a few wrong turns. Or turns down one-way streets. It's fine. It'll be fun.
[ nah, she wouldn't steer him that wrong, but she then points straight again, shifting around in her seat like this is a very serious job she's been given. ] We need to get to the west side of town, all the good stuff's on the west side. Cheap, but not garbage. And there's some places open late-night if you're a no-food-in-the-car person.
[ there's a pause, but then her hands rest on the dash, fingers drumming for just a moment, which makes her realize- ]
Wait, what is this? I know this song- [ her hands are drumming along ( nothing too wild! it's not her car, but she can't help herself ) before she can even place the name of the song ] Turn it up. Why's it so quiet-? [ she grins at him, knocking her brow up in a "c'mon, man" kinda way ]
oblivious dean
Did you say web slinging? Like, full on spiderman shit web slinging?
( mostly he's toying around, doesn't realize it's truth, though. )
I mean, I could pick you up in 10, but I haven't heard anything come close to Baby in awhile and that just might.
